When considering the alloy specification for a cast Stainless Steel component, it is critical that the service environment in which the cast component will be deployed is taken into account. The chemical composition of the Stainless Steel alloy will determine its performance characteristics and suitability for each application. At NovaCast, we supply a wide variety … Read more
LEADED GUNMETAL LG4
(BS 1400 1985 LG4)
Leaded Bronzes and Gunmetals offer better machining characteristics than other Bronzes while maintaining a good balance of corrosion resistance and strength. Leaded Gunmetal LG4 is a leaded Gunmetal Bronze conforming to the requirements of B.S. 1400 – 1985 alloy LG4. It has excellent machining properties, medium strength, good pressure tightness and is not subject to dezincification. It also has good corrosion resistance to seawater and brine, making it suitable for pump and valve components. LG4 is suitable for bearings having light loads and low to medium speeds with adequate lubrication. LG4 is preferred to LG2 where pump impeller peripheral velocities are higher (up to 25m/sec).
