Following a period of sustained growth, with new business growing strongly and consolidation of existing contracts, NovaCast is looking to the future with confidence. During the past few months a transformation has occurred that has seen the re-organisation of the business, the opening of new offices at its Bowerhill site, investment in the Melksham foundry and even greater emphasis on quality standards throughout the business.
There have been significant personnel changes as well with the retirement of Managing Director, Barry Hayward, who founded NovaCast 40 years ago. Barry has made an immense contribution to the casting industry in the UK over a long career and his presence will be missed by all at NovaCast. As long-time friend and colleague of Barry, Sales Director Richard Phillips commented, “It has been a great privilege to work with and learn from Barry over the years and we all wish him a long and very happy retirement.”
Nothing ever stands still, however, and NovaCast continues to expand its capabilities with the addition of new staff members.
Design Engineer, Dong Nam Chu, joined NovaCast during 2019 and has greatly enhanced the company’s ability to offer engineering design services to its customers. Dong is skilled in the use of 3D modelling and casting simulation software. He works closely with our customers’ design teams to optimise casting geometry. With several notable successes behind him already, Dong has delivered considerable savings and product enhancements across a range of valves and pumps for our largest customer.
NovaCast’s ability to source the highest quality castings at extremely competitive prices has been built on strong relationships with international partner foundries, primarily in China. This capability has been greatly expanded with the appointment of Emily Hou as NovaCast’s representative on the ground in China. Emily is a highly experienced professional with specialist knowledge of the metal casting market in China. Her expertise is already delivering tangible results in terms of pricing, logistics and quality control to NovaCast’s international customer base.
