NovaCast Enhances Precision with FARO Quantum XM Upgrade and CAM2 Training

In April 2025, NovaCast’s Dong, Engineering/Quality Manager, and Tom our Mechanical Engineer, attended a two-day training course at the Faro Centre in Rugby. During their time on the course, they acquired comprehensive expertise in CAM2, a 3D measurement software developed by FARO Technologies, recognised for its high precision and its ability to optimise and streamline user workflows.

The FARO Arm is widely regarded as a valuable tool in precision measurement and quality control, particularly in the manufacturing and engineering industries. Renowned for its high accuracy, the FARO Arm delivers exceptionally precise 3D measurements. Its articulated arm design allows for superior maneuverability, enabling users to easily navigate and capture data from complex geometries.

Since the training course, NovaCast’s Engineering Department has acquired a FARO Quantum XM, featuring a 2.5-metre arm and an impressive accuracy of 0.026mm. In comparison, our previous model, the FARO Prime, had a slightly shorter 2.4-metre arm and an accuracy of 0.034 mm. The Quantum XM is also significantly lighter, making it much easier to handle during extended use. This upgrade has already led to noticeable improvements in its measurement speed, operator comfort, and overall inspection efficiency.
